Boron Steel

N22CB has almost same workability as ordinary steel, and N22CB can have hardness as special steel with heat treatment.

Tenhiko have been developing various products using N22CB material for more than 10 years, and we have developed N22CB end application about more than 10 items.
Many customers are sartisfied with usability and reasonable price of N22CB.

Characteristics

· Basic chemical composition type is 0.22% C-0.45% Mn-0.3% Cr-0.003% B,
it does not contain expensive alloy elements such as Ni, Mo, V.
· This products are annealed materials or spheroidizing annealed materials.
· N22CB annealed material's mechanical properties and workabilities are equal to S20C, and it is softer than SCM420.
· The hardenability is almost intermediate between S20C and SCM420, ideal critical diameter D1is about 1.5inch.
· N22CB's carburizing hardenability is a little bit inferior than SCM420,
however it can get the same carburized case depth as S20C in half time.
· Quenched and tempered N22CB material's shock toughness is more superior than well-tempered SCM420.

Heat Treatability

1.Hardenability

N22CB hardenability correspond to intermediate between S20C and SCM420(Fig.1).

2.Carburizing Hardenability

N22CB carburizing hardenability is a little bit inferior than SCM420.
however it can get the same carburized case depth as S20C in half time.(Fig.2)

Notice)Carburizing is liquid carburizing, and 180℃ salt quenching.

3.N22CB hardened & tempered material's tensile property

Hardened and tempered N22CB has excellent toghness which shows about 10% elongation even without tempering.(Fig.3).

2)Quenching condition is 900℃-15min W.Q.
3)Tempering time is 30min

4.Relations between impact value and tempering hardness.

Quenched and tempered N22CB material's shock toughness is more superior to well-tempered SCM420.(Fig.4).
